Nokia 1100 Android 5.0 Smartphone specs: Cortex A7 processor and HD display feature in mid-range device
Fresh reports have emerged claiming that Nokia is developing a new
smartphone called the Nokia 1100 that is powered by Android 5.0
Lollipop. Following its recent acquisition by Microsoft, the "new" Nokia
has been expected to come up with new smartphones. However, its deal
with Microsoft does not allow the Finnish company to launch smartphones
for a certain period. Nevertheless, Nokia has continued to carry out
research and development on smartphones.
Nokia's entry-level phone the Nokia 1100 had become a huge hit after
it was launched in 2003. The model was owned by about 250 million people
across the world, according to the company, which claimed the Nokia
1100 to be "the world's most popular phone." The same model is now
rumored to be making a comeback with midrange specs, marking the first
release in Nokia's new Android phone line-up.
Benchmark test results revealed by the Nokia fan blog NPU on
the Geekbench website show an entry-level or mid-range Nokia smartphone
that runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. The device is powered by the MT6582
chipset with a Cortex A7 processor, supporting a number of features such
as HD display, 3G,Wi-Fi 802.11x, Bluetooth, GPS, and FM connectivity
options, and a 8 MP camera with full HD video shooting capability.
The model is likely to kick off Nokia's
Android phone line-up, since its former CEO, Stephen Elop, chose Windows
Phone over Android. But Nokia is unlikely to launch the Nokia 1100 with
Android 5.0 Lollipop very soon, as the terms of its acquisition deal
with Microsoft does not allow the company to use its brand name on
smartphones until Q4 2016, and on feature phones for another 10 years.
